The choice of the form of breeding of olive trees aims to give a functional skeletal structure to new plants, or, in the case of restructuring, to old plants, which undergo a substantial modernization.

  • Monocone

The crown assumes a cone with the vertex facing upwards. To this end, the olive tree should be “set” in the nursery, because the plants must maintain the intangibility of the top from the beginning.

  • Policonic vase

The most important and widespread among the forms of vase breeding is considered by a short trunk, about one meter, from which three or more branches branch off, inclined in the first stretch, then gradually vertical, with conical crowns. This form, very valid and productive, guarantees a rational distribution of the vegetation, the foliage, which develops harmonically in width and height, is easy to explore.

  • Cespugliato vase

The olive tree has a truncated conical crown, low, to meet the needs of hand harvesting. The fundamental structure rests on three or four branches, suitably inclined outwards. It allows a high density of plants per hectare, ensuring the re-entry of a rapid productivity.

  • Siepone

It is made up of monocauli olive trees, that is with a single stem, left to grow freely and placed a short distance along the row, with a space between the rows of five meters. The plant takes on a bushy appearance and the hairs tend to touch each other along the entire row.

  • Globo

System widely used in regions characterized by poor lighting. The foliage assumes a spherical conformation, which protects the main branches from the strong solar radiations and at the same time offers a wide fruiting area on the whole external surface.
